General FAQs

Can I sync data from before I installed Synqle?
Yes! Health Connect and Apple Health allow us to pull your last 30 days of activity. As long as your tracker was recording data to your phone during that time, Synqle can pull it in once connected.
Why aren't my steps updating instantly?
Your smartwatch has to hand its data to your phone before Synqle can see it. To update your leaderboard: First, open your watch's own app (like Garmin Connect or Fitbit) and let it sync, then open Synqle and tap the Sync button. If you have turned on Auto Sync, Synqle also checks in through the day in the background, but it is not instant and the timing varies.
How does Auto Sync work?

Press and hold the Sync button in the app to turn Auto Sync on or off. When it is on, Synqle checks in through the day and syncs your activity in the background, so your steps stay up to date without opening the app. Your phone decides exactly when, so the timing varies. This may slightly increase battery usage, and you can still open the app and tap Sync anytime. In a race, tapping Sync still matters most: a race can end before its end date, as soon as someone reaches the goal, so syncing right after activity is the fastest way to lock in your steps.

On iPhone: leave Synqle running in the background. If you force-quit it from the app switcher, iOS stops background syncing until you open the app again.

On Android: for best reliability, consider disabling battery optimization for Synqle in your system battery settings.

Why is my Synqle total slightly different from my health app?

Some fitness devices, Garmin especially, record activity in blocks of time, and a block can cross midnight: for example one that starts at 11:50 PM and ends at 12:40 AM. Your health app splits a block like that between the two days on its screen. Synqle counts any block that overlaps the challenge in full.

That means around the first day of a challenge your Synqle total can be slightly higher than what Apple Health or Health Connect shows for that day. It is never lower: nothing recorded during the challenge is left out. The difference is small, happens once, and works the same way for everyone in the challenge.

Can I join without a smartwatch?
Absolutely! Your smartphone has a built-in pedometer. Just carry your phone with you, ensure it is permitted to write to Apple Health or Health Connect, or use the Manual Entry feature in the Synqle app to log activities.
How does time zone routing work?
All challenges run on a universal platform timezone to ensure fairness. If you are traveling, just keep syncing your steps normally! Synqle automatically assigns your completed steps to the correct day on the global leaderboard.
